AUGUST 29: NAOMI HOUSE EXPLORE THE REFUGEE HIGHWAY

Through this outdoor interactive event, you will get a small taste of the many challenges that displaced people and refugees may experience. Set up like a "pick your own adventure", you will be put in a scenario of a displaced person. You have to make choices on what to do as your next step(s) in life.  Each choice will lead down a different path, and soon you will be walking the refugee highway.  This event will take place on Saturday, August 29 from 10am-4pm at Kildonan Park (Teddy Bass Field). Tickets are $10, but there is a free option as well, so please don't let finances hold you back. There will also be a pizza lunch available by donation. To register, and for more information, visit: https://naomihouse.info/

SEPTEMBER 6: PULPIT EXCHANGE & INTERCHURCH LUNCH

Don’t miss this Sunday as the pastors of the Osborne Pastors’ Group visit one another’s churches to encourage revival and promote unity within the larger body of Christ! Pastor George Balaktsis of King’s Fellowship will be bringing us a message at Bethesda while Pastor Yuri will be preaching at Gateway Church South. After church, bring a bag lunch to Gladstone School field (500 Gertrude) to play games and fellowship with our broader church family. (Other churches participating in this initiative are: Christian Fellowship Chapel, Nassau Street, Trinity Baptist, and Chinese Alliance Churches!)

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE!

As we move into summer, Pastor Yuri has launched a few initiatives to encourage us to read and engage with God’s Word more fully and diligently! We have a Bible reading challenge (the list has daily section breakdowns, but the main goal is just to see how much you can get through!), as well as copies of books written by classic Christian authors and thinkers A.W Tozer (How to Be Filled with the Holy Spirit), Oswald Chambers (If You Will Ask), and John Owen (The Mortification of Sin). You can pick up a copy of our Bible reading challenge on the back table. If you’re interested in any of the other books, please speak to Pastor Yuri or Elly (there will be a small fee for these to cover the cost of printing). Happy reading!

PERSPECTIVES COURSE: TUESDAYS THIS FALL
Do you ever wonder how God wants to use you? Join Pastor Yuri this fall as he takes part in the next Perspectives Course! Over 15 Tuesday nights, Perspectives teaches you all about God’s mission to redeem the world from four vantage points—biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic—starting from Genesis all the way to the present. Although the class is taught online, Pastor Yuri is expecting that we will have plenty of in-person discussion and that we will get to know one another well—and pray and encourage one another—as we take the course together! The next class runs from September 8-December 15. The cost is $235 if you register by August 8. Bethesda may be able to subsidize part of the cost.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Looking for ways to get involved at Bethesda? We have several ministries in need of volunteers! From greeting at the door to visiting the housebound, serving on the A/V team, supporting our missionaries, working with youth and helping out in the garden, there are many areas where your service would be greatly valued. Please check out the sign-up sheets posted in the foyer and prayerfully consider where God may be leading you to serve.
